My favorite foods which may help to naturally prevent and reverse pain include:
Fruit: Most fruit is about 80% water which is believed to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties. (Soak dried fruit before eating or blending in a smoothie.)
Water: Water is said to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties.
Arugula: Dark-leafy greens like arugula are believed to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties.
Celery: Celery is said to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties.
Walnuts: Walnuts contain omega 3 fatty acids which are said to have anti-inflammatory properties.
Ginger: Ginger root may help stop the formation of inflammatory compounds, leukotrienes and prostaglandins, and break down acidity and inflammation in joint-fluids. Add to fruit smoothies. (Ginger relieved my vertigo.)
Curry: Curry contains turmeric which contains curcumin said to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungal, and antiviral properties.
Chili: Chili peppers contain capsaicin which is said to stop the functioning of a hormone that transmits pain signals to the brain.
Turn Your Kitchen into A “Farmacy”. Discover the Healing Medicines in Micro Greens & Baby Greens. What you put into your body every day has more of an impact on your health than anything else you do. We all know that heart disease can be caused by bad diet, but now mainstream studies prove that it can also be treated by diet. The same is true for diabetes, allergies, arthritis, fibromyalgia, obesity, etc. Good diet has the power to prevent disease before it starts. But some foods have more healing potential than others! Meet “Sproutman” Steve Meyerowitz and discover how a diet rich in micro-greens and baby vegetables contain a juggernaut of phyto-chemicals that have the power to prevent and reverse disease. Dr. Pam Popper’s newest book, Solving America’s Healthcare Crisis, goes beyond diet advice and covers myths about protein, supplementation, the role of genes, and other related issues. Information about how nutrition affects many different conditions and stories of people who have regained their health with diet are included, along with details about issues like public policy, school food, and how to reduce the financial burden of health care for employers. This book is a blueprint for how to save the country billions of dollars in unnecessary costs per year and help Americans to improve their quality of life through optimal health. At Dr. Pam Poppers talk, I learned a cool natural wellness tip: “Every hour slept before midnight is like two hours of sleep.” So for example if I sleep from 9pm til 2am that is like getting 8 hours of sleep! Wow! :) She also said that there is a very high percentage of false positives in cancer screenings and overall a very low cancer cure rate from medical doctors but they manipulate the figures to make it sound better. She says to eat fruits and veggies to manage disease. :)
In Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows: An Introduction to Carnism social psychologist, Dr. Melanie Joy, offers an absorbing look at why and how humans can so wholeheartedly devote ourselves to certain animals and then allow others to suffer needlessly, especially those slaughtered for our consumption. She explores the many ways we numb ourselves and disconnect from our natural empathy for farmed animals. She coins the term “carnism” to describe the belief system that has conditioned us to eat certain animals and not others. Joy investigates factory farming, exposing how cruelly the animals are treated, the hazards that meatpacking workers face, and the environmental impact of raising 10 billion animals for food each year. Controversial and challenging, this book will change the way you think about food forever.
I had the pleasure of seeing the bright and beautiful Dr. Pam Popper, PhD, ND and Dr. Melanie Joy, PhD, EdM speak at The Boston Vegetarian Food Festival on Sun., Oct 28, 2012, at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center, 1350 Tremont Street, Boston, MA. I make delicious nutritious Kale Chips with a light lemon sesame dressing gently dehydrated at 105℉ to preserve vital nutrients including enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber, etc. ~ Yum! :)
Cherries contain anthocyanins, nature’s pain reliever, and melatonin, another natural pain reliever that also helps regulate the sleep cycle! Anthocyanins are also used by the body to help produce amino acids which are used to produce protein. Cherries also contain fiber and lots of Vitamin C, an antioxidant, with anti-cancer properties. Wow! My favorite cherries are wild black cherries that fall into my yard from my neighbor’s wild cherry tree.
Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead, overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross was at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. With doctors and conventional medicine unable to help, Joe traded in junk food and hit the road with a juicer and generator in tow, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe had one goal in mind: To get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle.
This video made me smile, cry, and feel very inspired to see people taking charge of their lives, happiness, and wellness naturally, easily, and inexpensively. In my wellness journey , I’ve been more of a “smoothie girl” than a “juicer” because at the beginning I had a blender and not a juicer, but this video even made me want to juice. :) This video will be a great gift to your loved-ones!
