My favorite foods which may help to naturally prevent and reverse pain include:
Fruit: Most fruit is about 80% water which is believed to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties. (Soak dried fruit before eating or blending in a smoothie.)
Water: Water is said to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties.
Arugula: Dark-leafy greens like arugula are believed to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties.
Celery: Celery is said to have alkalizing anti-inflammatory properties.
Walnuts: Walnuts contain omega 3 fatty acids which are said to have anti-inflammatory properties.
Ginger: Ginger root may help stop the formation of inflammatory compounds, leukotrienes and prostaglandins, and break down acidity and inflammation in joint-fluids. Add to fruit smoothies. (Ginger relieved my vertigo.)
Curry: Curry contains turmeric which contains curcumin said to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungal, and antiviral properties.
Chili: Chili peppers contain capsaicin which is said to stop the functioning of a hormone that transmits pain signals to the brain.
Genetic Roulette, by Jeffrey M. Smith, is a truly informative and awakening book about the dangers of genetically modified foods and the easy steps to take to avoid them. According to the film: Americans get sick more often than Europeans and people in other industrialized countries and they are getting sicker and there is a correlation of use of GMO with increase in disease rates. The science behind genetic engineering is haphazard, risky, unregulated, and untested for long term use. Plants have been engineered to either tolerate being sprayed with herbicide and not die or produce their own toxic insecticide that breaks open the stomach and kill bugs that eat the plant. The GMO industry claims it has no affect on humans, but there has been an increase is stomach disorders and many other diseases.
There are only nine GMO food crops: soy, corn (not popcorn), cottonseed (for oil), canola (for oil), sugar beets (for sugar), papaya (Hawaiian and Chinese), zucchini, yellow crookneck squash, and alfalfa (for hay) however their derivatives are found in many processed and packaged foods. These can all be avoided by simply buying only foods labelled “Organic” or “Non-GMO”. This is easy to do on The 80/10/10 Diet by Dr. Douglas Graham.
