Mara More: Wellness/Food-Demo

Mara More will share her research and experience of natural-wellness and raw vegan nutrition and demonstrate how to make a favorite easy smoothie and salad on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 6:30pm at The Microsoft Store Theater, 800 Boylston Street, Boston, MA. maramore.com See more here: http://www.meetup.com/RawBoston/events/83243522/

Update: I gave a free talk and easy food-prep demo at the Microsoft Store Theater at the Prudential Center in Boston! All seats were full. Lots of “logistics” involved. lol. I parked the company vehicle from my job right after work and walked to the train station with two gallon coconut oil buckets and a back-pack full of bananas, aloe, romaine, orange, avocado, paper plates, forks, napkins, cups, and an inversion blender (I did not think of using my suitcase on wheels that day). I took the train from Haverhill to Boston North Station, then Green Line subway to Copley and walked about half mile to the Prudential. I got there very shortly before 6:30pm and some people were already waiting. I gave a short talk, did the food demo, cleaned up, caught the train, walked to the vehicle, and drove home. I think people liked my talk and food demo. Rick Williams, Linda Balliro, Paul Something, some college students, some people my age, an older man, and more were there. It was fun for me and glad I pulled it together last minute since the speaker cancelled considering how busy my life is between my “real” job and home/biz. lol. I had stored the romaine in a cooler with freezer packs because I leave my house at 2pm. Typical of me, I forgot to ask someone to take a few photos because I usually just enjoy living in the moment, but will remember next time.

Water

WATERWater: For Health, for Healing, for Life: You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty! The author, Dr. F. Batmanghelidj, not only believes that drinking water is healthy, but claims it has curative powers. According to Batmanghelidj, most people are seriously dehydrated. He says that symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, or depression indicate dehydration, which may result in serious conditions such as asthma, heart disease, brain damage, cancer, constipation, allergies, obesity, and diabetes. In order to compensate for fluid lost through urination, respiration, and perspiration, Batmanghelidj suggests drinking a minimum of two quarts of plain water daily (not alcohol, caffeine beverages or juices). In addition, a diet consisting of a minimum of 80% fruits and vegetables should be followed along with an exercise program. The author presents a wealth of medical data as well as patient anecdotes that testify to water as a cure for various diseases.

My friend recently asked my opinion of an expensive water-alkalizing machine. I think all water is alkalizing because it neutralizes acidic residues left in the body from consuming cooked foods especially animal flesh. I do use a whole house water filter on my well and a water pitcher filter shown below. For reference I also added some inexpensive “water-alkalizers” that I have not used personally.

Wild Edible Cherries

Cherries contain anthocyanins, nature’s pain reliever, and melatonin, another natural pain reliever that also helps regulate the sleep cycle! Anthocyanins are also used by the body to help produce amino acids which are used to produce protein. Cherries also contain fiber and lots of Vitamin C, an antioxidant, with anti-cancer properties. Wow! My favorite cherries are wild black cherries that fall into my yard from my neighbor’s wild cherry tree.

Eating

Eating This award-winning DVD covers a lot of ground very comprehensively – and now has subtitles in Spanish, French, German and English (for the deaf). Heal Your Body

Heal Your Body is a fresh and easy step-by-step guide. Just look up your specific health challenge and you will find the probable cause for this health issue and the information you need to overcome it by creating a new thought pattern. Louise L. Hay, bestselling author, is an internationally known leader in the self-help field. Her key message: “If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed.” The author has a great deal of experience and firsthand information to share about healing—including how she cured herself after having been diagnosed with cancer. “Her teachings of positive-thinking and powerful life-enhancing affirmations have helped millions of people to improve their lives and have made her a legend in her own lifetime.” – Kindred Spirit Magazine.

I found this little gem of a book at Vitamin’s Etc. in Newburyport, MA in about 1990 and found it very interesting and enlightening! I personally combine affirmation, nutrition, and exercise for powerful results when dealing with wellness challenges and for every day living amazingly well. :)
