Tomato at a Cafe ๐Ÿ…

2009.12.14eTomatoSoftAt a seaside cafe on Hampton Beach, NH:

Me: “May I have a tomato please?” (in pleasant friendly tone w a smile)
Waitress: “What?” (shocked/bewildered)
Me: “May I have a tomato please?” (in pleasant friendly tone w a smile)
Waitress: “Whaaaaat?” (with a bit of an attitude. lol.)
Me: “May I have a tomato please?” (in pleasant friendly tone w a smile)
Waitress: “You just want a tomato?” (with a bit more attitude. lol.)
Me: “Yes, please.” (in pleasant friendly tone w a smile)
Waitress: “You just want a tomato … like … on a plate?”
Me: “Yes, please.” (in pleasant friendly tone w a smile)

Actually I didn’t care about the plate. I love to eat a tomato whole like a fruit, which it is. It’s a little tricky, but I start at the top and chew a bite of flesh and sip out the juicy part with the seeds and chew them as I work my way down and around to not make a mess or waste any lusciousness. But I didn’t want to freak the waitress out any further.

So she brought me a lovely tomato sliced on a plate with some basil leaves on top for only a few dollars. It was a divine snack. I’d had a 6 banana smoothie for breakfast and would have another for dinner when I got home.

After enjoying my tomato, we walked on the beach and my date was laughing and imitating the waitress which made me laugh. But I really meant no harm or disrespect and just felt like having a tomato. lol.
